DD if one of the most useful, and least understood linux commands. It is a bitstream duplicator, capable of making exact copies of almost all computer data. You can use dd to make a bootable usb thumb drive. You can use it a disk imaging utility. You can make iso images from CD's and DVD's. You can even combine dd with other commands to entire drive searches, even deleted files, slack space, and free space. You can use it to read/write surplus sectors, which are ordinarily not accessible with any operating system. This might be THE most useful linux command:
