Is there a mandatory command to open/query a database from script or access a program querying a database? Is this way uniform or changes with the calling context? Thank you for help.

the way you access a database changes completely depending on how you want to access it - it depends on the database server software you are using, the database clients that are available on your system, and the language you are writing your program/script in.
Hope this helps slightly!

Sorry. I had in mind executing a database access from a code in different language (C, script), and may be particularly SQL. Something like using EXEC or CALL..

hmm... i do have a little experience in scripting, but not with databases, and I have no C experience whatsoever... in fact, EXEC and CALL mean nothing to me i'm afraid...
Can anyone else help?
