Folks. I am not able to connect to the server (telnet), whenever I try, telnetd giving me the err message
telnetd: could not grant slave pty
then the connection is terminated
any clue ..?

Hey There,
Off the top of my head it sounds like an error in /etc/inetd.conf or, more likely, a problem with /usr/sbin/in.telnetd
Can you grep telnet from /etc/inetd.conf and do an "ls -l" on /usr/sbin/in.telnetd -- it should have permissions of 4755 by default (or, at least, setuid root since it operates on a low port)
Looking forward to hearing back from you. Hopefully you don't just have a billion pty's open

seems there were a lot of pty hanged ... upgrading to Sol9 solved the problem .. thanks
