Hello
I've ran the sys-unconf on a solaris 5.8 box when the system restarted and went through the system configuration command. I did not set the root account with a password, I had no problem with the configuration bit, but when I came to the login prompt wonted to login in as root it came up with user account has expired. How do I resolve this issue.
thanks

Hey There,
You may need to get down to the PROM level and boot into single user mode using a CD. Then mount your primary partition (c0t0d0s0 or whatever it is) and edit the /etc/shadow file on it. Clear out sections 5,6,7 and 8 in the colon separated list to disable password expiration (and change forcing) for the root account) and then reboot.
Of course if you have any other accounts on there that can sudo to root, you could get at it that way, but it sounds like you have a fresh install
Hope that helps
